Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so I decided to make a review for a love story book. As I previously said, I can’t decide if “Me Before You” is a cheesy book or not. I will share some thoughts about it in this article and I will let you decide if it is suitable for you.
About “Me Before You”
The main characters of “Me Before You” are Louisa Clark and Will Traynor.
Louisa is a young woman from a working-class family, who just lost her job at the local cafe. She doesn’t have any ambitions and has very few qualifications, but she has a bubbly personality. She has a longtime boyfriend, Patrick, with who she doesn’t have much in common.
Will is a very wealthy man that developed quadriplegia after an accident. He was once a fan of extreme sports and was very active. Because of his paralysis, he became depressed and lost any reason to live.
After the cafe where Louisa worked closes, she is chosen by Camilla Traynor, Will’s mother, for a job that requires to help take care of her son. Camilla thinks that even though Miss Clark hasn’t got any experience in the help-care domain, she will be good for the job due to her colorful temperament.
And here comes the cheesy part: of course that, in the beginning, the two main characters don’t get along and Will refuses her presence and of course that after some time they start having feelings for each other, but I won’t say more about it.
Final Badgery thoughts
I don’t know how exactly I feel about “Me Before You”. It is not a book that I normally read, but it didn’t feel like a total waste of my time. Yes, it has some stereotype parts, but I actually thought the cheesiness will go till the end and I was happy to discover that it doesn’t. So it is up to you to choose if this could be the novel for you or not.
“Me Before You” was also turned into a movie starring Emilia Clarke, but I definitely recommend you the book.
