Despite being banned twice in Iran, “The Book of Fate” is a bestseller and a book that will change your perspective on life. Complex and easy to name it intense, the story will make you read it in one go. I was passing through lots of emotions during each page turn so I totally recommend it to anyone. The author, Parinoush Saniee, is subtle when it comes to revealing painful facts about Iran. You will discover a hidden world through the book’s lines.
Massoumeh, a strong character that you will hardly forget
If you love strong women characters, “The Book of Fate” is inspirational and a life lesson. Masumeh is the perfect example of the destiny of Iran women. She had to face the most turbulent decades of Iran. While she was in conflict with her family and all alone with 3 children.
Her cruel destiny started when she was a teenager, passionate about studying. On her everyday walk to school, she meets a local man and falls in love. Once her family finds out, they beat her and arrange for her a marriage with a man she never met before. So she is convicted to a life without love. She has to face not only the politically turbulent decades but also being a single parent.
The Book of Fate should be in all libraries
Educational, inspirational and a great lecture even for the picky ones, The Book of Fate will go straight to your heart. I cried, I was angry but also understood Masumeh’s decisions. This book truly represented motherhood and sacrifice to me. Iran’s women were the perfect example of power and sacrifice for the family’s honor. Also, it makes you realize that many of the things you have taken for granted are so precious for someones.
