This real, strange, but also exciting case of Billy Milligan, the man who is said to have had 24 personalities is exposed by Daniel Keyes, in his book named “The minds of Billy Milligan.”
The author released this book after spending a lot of time with the real Billy Milligan, trying to understand every personality of his and write down about each of it, in a captivating manner.
The book is chronologically separated into three parts, from the very beginning of the main character’s childhood to the end of the many legal lawsuits he had.
Summing up one of the greatest books I’ve ever read
There are lectures that got very good marks from us, but this one is absolutely stunning.
Billy Milligan is accused of raping two women and committing an armed robbery, but after being charged, doctors find out that he suffers from a very rare disease, which could be the cause of his acts. After a childhood with a dead father and a stepfather who was sexually abusing him, Billy develops other 24 personalities, who speak, act, work, study or make decisions for him.
Every personality is different, mentally but also physically, and the author describes them so good, that the reader would easily start recognizing them.
The book stands as a very emotional biography of Bily Milligan, with ups and downs and critical moments in his life.
Built as a roller-coaster, this book could be a “must” for those of you who are passionate about medicine, strong characters, strange facts in the world or very realistic stories.
I won’t say more, but please, please, read this book!
