Many times, my friends and I tried to think of movies based on books, better or at least as good as the book. I can say for sure say that A Clockwork Orange the movie is just as good as the book.
That being said, the book allows you a deeper understanding of the characters and most importantly, they have different endings.
The book follows Alex, a 15-year-old violent young man, from his havoc-creating days, to being reeducated to despise violence and back again.
I’m not going to get too deep into the plot of the book because it will just ruin the experience.
The writing is intensely graphic so that I wouldn’t recommend it for the faint-hearted. Also, the language used takes a bit to get used to. It is a mixture of Russian and English, but if you can’t make the words out from the context, the book does come with a NADSAT glossary.
Personally, for me, it would have been the perfect book to read in my late teens, early twenties, when I saw the movie, but it had quite the impact on my views on society even now.
That being said, I’ll let you enjoy the book or movie with your droogs.
